Everybody meet Richard and Willow.
Richard East decided to give up to his job and sells everything he owns, just to travel with his cat across Australia. However what bonds these two so much is more than you could ever imagine. Willow really safeguarded Rich during his hardest time.
The beautiful cat was adopted from a shelter in Hobart, Tasmania by Richard’s ex-girlfriend. And when they first ever met, the cat was already two-year-old. It doesn’t take too long until Willow showed a great fond of her mom’s boyfriend. And since then, she never left Richard’s side, even during his toughest days. That was when his girlfriend broke up with him and she also told him she can not keep Willow anymore. But Rich was more than happy to look after her for then on.
“Willow is very sweet and loving. She loves cuddles and is very affectionate,” Richard told Love Meow. “I felt that when a cat is adopted, you have lifetime responsibility to look after it. So I just made it work.”
Then, one day Richard decided to quite his job and sell his belongs to pursue his dream to travel with Willow. And ever since, the two are traveling across Australia in a van.
“You’d be surprised how many take their adventure cats on the road, there are literally dozens of us! Staying at Wunjunga for two nights I was joined by Samara and Glen with their meow meows Batman and Kitty,” Richard said. “The little black adventure cat… really took a chance when she rescued me. The little cat who has made my van into a home and the whole of Australia her backyard.”
So far they reached South Australia, after they visited 6 states and 2 territories of Australia. They sailed the Great Barrier Reef and camped on mountains in Burketown, Queensland and the Northern Territory.
“She’s quick to explore our camps when we arrive but you won’t see me walking her down the Main Street! She just loves spending time with me outside,” Richard said.
The duo even has an Instagram account to keep in touch with their almost 100,000 fans. I can only imagine how many adventures these two had together!
