This is the moment the world’s largest sea turtle emerges from the water’ onto the beach.
It is a majestic leatherback turtle, and it seems to have come out of the water to rest upon the sand.
Leatherback turtles are the biggest turtle species in the world. Unlike most turtles, they don’t have a hard shell, instead, their backs are covered with thick, leathery skin, hence the name.
Leatherbacks prefer to travel the world alone and only meet with other turtles when breeding. Like different turtles, they lay their eggs on a sea shore and let the child turtles make their own specific manner to the ocean.
